Looking for a top-notch Open Platform carrier?  Allow us to introduce ourselves.  We are Fernweh Specialized.  New fancy name? Yes.  It is German and means, "A crave for Travel; being homesick for a place you have never been."   New at what we do?  Not even remotely close.  Our founder, who still drives today in the Specialized Open Platform segment, sat down and started to look at the real problems in the transportation industry by taking a hard look at the past compared to what is happening today.  He took some very serious notes, double, even triple checking his research and asked some hard-hitting nasty questions.  After some great and heated thought, he has created what a specialized open platform carrier should be. No fluff or fancy talk to get you in the door.  We will be truthful.  We will gladly show you with good old-fashioned hard work and great customer service that you have got a winning recipe known as Fernweh Specialized.

Why a Specialized Carrier?

Well, not everything is created equal!  As kids, we SO wanted it to be, but had to eventually accept that it is not.  Shipping your goods works on that same level.  It takes a different level of understanding that all freight is not the same and some are very fragile and requires a little bit extra TLC.  Way too many people get into this industry for a quick buck and they just take anything not knowing or caring what that item on their back is, means, costs, or what is legally required to move the load!  They think that all flatbed trucking is the the same, but that is the furthest from the truth.  Some things go beyond what the standard is thought to be, hence the need for a Specialized Carrier.  For example, a load of lumber is a Yugo car, and that Rolls-Royce Trent 800 engine is a Bentley Mulsanne.   The Yugo is your A to B point car and you are not going to treat it special.  So, practically anyone can haul lumber.  You load it, strap it, tarp it (if they cannot get away without doing it) and ride and probably drive like they stole it!  Sadly, that is what most do! And yes, some drivers with the big mega carriers do the same!  Now that Trent, we can not and will not ever do that to this engine, I mean ever!  We have to understand where to properly secure this to prevent damage and make sure we have the right kind of securements for this item before we even commit to the load.  We must know how to properly tarp this without causing damage.  Then, we must transport it safely and with the upmost care.  We are being trusted to get it there undamaged and in a timely manner as there may be an aircraft waiting for this critical piece.  So we hope you are going to treat your Bentley the way a luxury car of its caliber deserves to be treated.  We mean, the finest you will ever know.  Now, with all that said, that's why we are a Specialized Carrier, as we can do a lot more then those others and truly understand that your freight is unique and valuable and needs to be handled with absolute care.
